Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what 6uo collects and uses for the iOS app and 6uo Web.

Information we collect

Cognito-based authentication identity, including the account identifier and the sign-in method used for the account, such as Apple or Google.
The email address associated with your Apple or Google sign-in, used to identify your account. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only receive the relay address Apple provides.
Profile information you add to your account, including name, username, and avatar.
Chat messages and media you send or receive in direct messages and group conversations.
Location information only when you choose to share a place or live location with friends.
Device push token used to deliver push notifications to your device.
Subscription status for in-app purchases, so the app knows which Boost entitlements your account holds. Payment details are handled by Apple and are never sent to 6uo.
Information you submit when you report content, block a user, or contact us.

People in a direct message or group conversation can see the messages and media you send there.
Friends you choose can see location information you share with them.
6uo may review reported content and related account information for safety and moderation.
When an AI feature is used in a conversation, recent messages from that conversation are sent to our AI processing providers so a response can be generated. Depending on the conversation, this can include message text, images, documents, and locations shared in it — including content written by other participants, not only by you.
Voice messages you send are transmitted to a speech-to-text provider when transcription is used.
AI features run only after you allow AI data sharing in the app. Before anything is sent, the app shows what will be sent and who receives it, and asks for your permission. You can withdraw permission at any time in Profile › Settings › AI data sharing.

6uo uses third-party AI providers to generate assistant replies, transcribe voice messages, and power search and conversation summaries.
What we send and how we collect it: when you mention @AI or reply to an AI message, the app sends your message together with recent messages from that conversation, including text, images, documents, locations, and members' display names. When you search or summarise a conversation, its messages are sent. When cloud transcription is used in a Boosted room, your voice recording is sent. When you choose to share in an AI group request, the mini app data you share, such as your saved cards, is sent.
Chat search: to make search work, chat messages are converted into search vectors. We store only the vector and the message ID, not the message text.
How we use it: only to generate the reply, summary, search result, or transcript that was requested. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.
Who receives it: OpenRouter, Inc., an AI gateway that passes each request to the model provider it selects, such as Google, NVIDIA, OpenAI, or Z.ai; Alibaba Cloud (Model Studio), for Qwen models; and Cloudflare, Inc. (Workers AI), for voice transcription and chat search.
We share data with these providers only to provide the AI features, and we require them to protect it with the same or equal protection as described in this policy.
AI-generated responses may be inaccurate. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial, or other important decisions.

6uo uses location only when you choose to share it with friends.
Do not share live or precise location information unless you want the selected friends or group to receive it.

If you report content or block a user, 6uo uses the information needed to review the report and apply the block.

Cloud infrastructure and storage providers, located in the United States, host your account, chat, and media data on our behalf.
Identity providers operate the Apple and Google sign-in options. The app store operator processes in-app purchases and subscriptions; payment details are handled by the store and are never sent to 6uo.
A push notification delivery provider transmits notifications to your device.
A GIF search provider supplies the results shown when you open the GIF picker. That provider receives your IP address and the search terms you type there.
AI processing providers generate assistant replies, transcribe voice messages, and power search and summaries, as described under AI features.
Providers act on our instructions and are permitted to use your information only to provide their service to 6uo.
You can request the current list of the providers we use by contacting support@6uo.io.

Our public website at 6uo.io uses a third-party analytics service to measure page visits and understand how the site is used. It sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view.
This analytics service is used on the website only. The iOS app does not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
6uo does not sell your personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and does not use your chat content, media, or location for advertising.
You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings or a tracking-prevention extension without losing access to any part of 6uo.

You can delete your account in the app under Profile, then Edit Profile, then Delete Account.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your messages, and your media from the 6uo service. Some records may persist briefly in backups before they expire.
If you can no longer sign in and need your account deleted, contact support@6uo.io.

6uo is operated from Hong Kong, and your information is stored and processed on servers located in the United States.
Our AI and analytics providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using 6uo you understand that your information is transferred outside your own jurisdiction.

You can access and update your profile information at any time in the app.
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by contacting support@6uo.io.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection law, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

6uo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it and close the account.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will provide notice in the app or by another reasonable means before the change takes effect.
